Skokie Vision 9

Skokie Vision #9: I believe we look for three important qualities in elected officials when casting our votes in a democracy.

First, we vote for people who share our values and vision.

Second, we vote for people we can trust -- candidates with a track record of integrity, intelligence, compassion, delivering on promises, and actively soliciting and taking into account the thoughts of their constituents while recognizing that matters of principle like civil rights are by definition unassailable.

Finally, we look for candidates who can unify and inspire not only the majority of the people, but their colleagues. I resonate with this vision of a Skokie that is responsive and accountable to *all* its people. A transparent Skokie also excites civic involvement.

On top of my love for the people of Skokie, my home since 2004, I'm eager to put my 40-year career as a community organizer and consensus builder, executive director of mission-driven housing and social justice organizations, and public policy instructor to good use as the At Large Trustee that the people of Skokie seek.
